There are major changes already happening in the Colorado homeschooling ecosystem and Georgian families, service providers and legistlatures are wise to notice and take heed.

Homeschooling families make considerable sacrifices, while still paying taxes. Why shouldn’t some of the tax money follow the child help pay for curriculum, tutoring, therapies, classes, or enrichment?

That is a fair question. Programs that expand educational opportunity can genuinely bless families.

Can I tell you something I wish someone had told me?

The love you have for your children and your desire to give them the very best is already one of the greatest gifts you'll ever give them. Homeschooling is such a sweet adventure. You'll make memories you could never plan for, laugh more than you expect, and watch your children grow in ways that will leave you in awe.

But here's the gentle reminder I hope you'll tuck away for your first year

I realize this is a touchy topic, but please hear me out.

Our culture has become increasingly age-segregated. We have children's activities, teen activities, college activities, young adult activities, and senior activities. While there is certainly value in spending time with peers who share similar interests and life stages, I wonder if we've unintentionally lost something incredibly important.

As parents, we're called to raise our children into mature, servant-hearted adults.

The teenage years naturally come with an inward focus. Teens are learning who they are, where they belong, and how they fit into the world. That's a normal part of

Freedom also calls us to responsibility. It reminds us that we are not simply raising educated children, we are raising the next generation of citizens, leaders, neighbors, and servants. They are watching how we use the freedoms we've been given and whether we steward them with gratitude, wisdom, and courage.

And that’s the beauty of homeschooling, right? We can pivot. We can listen to our kids, adjust, and find the path that helps them thrive—even if it means changing course just a few weeks in.

To anyone else finding themselves rethinking, reshuffling, or totally restarting something this early in the year: you’re not alone. Flexibility isn’t failure—it’s a superpower.
